The 2024 Dedication to Training award is called The Secret to Success and is in memory of our club founder Vanessa’s mare Secret. 

Vanessa says “Secret, once described by an eminent trainer as being entirely happy in her own skin’, had an unpromising start in life. She arrived at my yard aged three, unhandled and covered in open sores along her back and hind legs, the vets thought she’d be scarred for life. As I handled her, and helped her to become a domestic animal, she taught me how to ask politely, clearly and concisely. She never said no but was quite prepared to discuss my decision! Secret is the only horse who has ever shown me her aura, it was gold. That defines that horse, ‘pure gold’. She was never a ‘success’ in the conventional equestrian sense but when I came up with the idea of Horse Agility she embraced it wholeheartedly and went on to help change the world of equestrian sport forever. Secret, the Agility Queen, a horse in a million.”

Anyone (Horse + Handler combo) who enters a class a month for all 12 months qualifies for this limited edition profile bade and rosette.

This is a hard won prize. Turning up every month no matter what life or the weather has to say, is not for the faint of heart. Last year we had 69 teams complete their dedication award when 220 started.

In 2024 we have had 77 complete with 221 starting!
